Battery Replacement

Battery Replacement

Keeping your mobility scooter or power wheelchair running efficiently requires timely battery replacements. Here’s everything you need to know:

How Often Should You Replace Batteries?

The average battery lifespan depends on usage but typically lasts:

  • Mobility Scooters: 12 to 18 months with regular use.
  • Power Wheelchairs (Group 2 and Group 3): 1 to 2 years depending on battery type and usage.

Signs It’s Time to Replace Batteries

  • Decreased range or performance.
  • Needing frequent recharges.
  • Batteries not holding a full charge.
  • Unusual noises or a swollen battery casing.

How to Tell if Your Batteries or Charger Are Bad

Test the Charger: Use a multimeter to check the charger’s voltage. If it doesn’t match the label, it might need replacement.

Test the Batteries: Most battery stores or service centers can perform a load test to evaluate battery health.

Important Note

If you leave your mobility device uncharged for an extended period, the batteries may lose their ability to hold a charge permanently. Always keep your batteries charged, even if the unit is not in use for long periods.

We Do Not Replace Lithium-Ion Batteries

Please note that we cannot replace lithium-ion batteries. If your device uses lithium-ion batteries, we can only order complete battery units directly from the manufacturer, if available.
